Karlovy Vary Spa Town
Karlovy Vary city was founded around 1350 by the King of Bohemia and the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, Charles IV, on the site of healing hot springs. For over six hundred years it has restored health and well-being to visitors from all over the world, and been a sought-after meeting place for statesmen, artists and scientists. Today, it is the largest Czech spa town,the regional city of the Karlovy Vary Region, and the venue of the Karlovy Vary International Festival and a number of other important events. Together with other important spas in Europe, it is a candidate for the UNESCO World Heritage List.
