The airline Germania Airlines will be the operator of the first-ever direct flights connecting Karlovy Vary with a major hub in Western Europe. Flights to Dusseldorf will be operated twice a week starting from 26th March 2017.
Karlovy Vary region will be connected by scheduled flight operations with a destination in Western Europe for the first time ever. Two weekly flights by Germania Airlines will connect Düsseldorf, the capital city of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, which is also major international business and financial centre, with Karlovy Vary effective Summer 2017 flight schedule, i. e. as of 26th March 2017.
"The introduction of the new scheduled services is an extraordinary event which means an attractive opportunity to bring visitors from other German destinations to our region and open the region to the inflow of tourists. Likewise, the people of the region will have the opportunity to use air connections to visit the North Rhine - Westphalia. We are well aware that flights to Dusseldorf won´t cover the shortfall in the number of tourists from the Russian Federation, which were using the airport in the past, but it opens a new path for the development of the airport and tourism in the region, " said Deputy Governor of the Karlovy Vary Region Martin Hurajčík.
Flights between Karlovy Vary and Düsseldorf will be operated on Thursday and Sunday, which provides an attractive opportunity to German and Czech travellers intending to visit the other country both for short-term visits as well as longer trips and stay, because both destinations offer to the visitors a wide range of things to see and do.
"The introduction of these new flights was preceded by active negotiations by the Association of Karlovy Vary Region for the Air Routes Development, whose founding members are the Karlovy Vary region, statutory city of Karlovy Vary and the company Airport Karlovy Vary Ltd. The main task of this association, which was founded in 2015, is to promote the formation and development of air services operating to Karlovy Vary airport and thereby promote the development of tourism and economy of the Karlovy Vary region, " stated Airport Director Ing. Vaclav Cerny.
Flights will be operated by Boeing 737-700 aircraft offering a total of 148 seats in full economy configuration. The schedule from 26th March till 26th October 2017 is as follows:
